Perth Caravan & Motorhome Expo March 2009

I have recently returned from 10 days in Perth in which 5 of them I worked for the local Jayco dealership, Jayco Caravanland.

The Annual Perth Caravan & Motorhome Show ran from the 19th to 23rd March and was held at Claremont Showgrounds. With over 200 hundred exhibitors, visitors had the chance to look at and purchase all the latest products available in Australia, watch product demonstrations, obtain expert product and travelling advice and upgrade their caravanning, camping and motorhoming needs.

Jayco as usual had the biggest site at the showground with over 80 RV's from camper trailers to motorhomes on display. Jayco holds, as of 2009, 54% of the total market share of caravan and motorhome sales in Australia. Now this is certainly saying something!!

Jayco have the biggest caravan & motorhome factory in the southern hemisphere producing over 8000 units per year and are also the market leader in product development. Jayco is actually a family owned and operated business just like Coastal Motorhomes & Caravans. Actually among the Jayco dealership network there are several family owned and operated dealerships.

The biggest day at the Perth Show was the Sunday with over 16,000 people in attendance.  In comparison, our Jayco dealership recently attended the North Island annual Caravan & Motorhome show held at Claudelands in Hamilton where 16,000 attended over the four days.

The atmosphere at The Perth Show was electric with visitors buzzing from site to site viewing demonstrations, inspecting RV's on sale, and the various products that compliment the camping lifestyle. It was obvious to see that the show was the place to make a decision and purchase a new caravan or motorhome.

The Jayco stand was continuously alive with people watching the onsite camper trailer demos, inspecting the huge display of RV's and chatting with the experienced sales people. Even Jay Jay (Jayco's Mascot) came out to entertain the children and hand out goodie bags.

Over the five days Jayco sold an amazing grand total of 139 RV's. This is a staggering number of RV's to sell at one show, and proving that Jayco is the number one product to buy in Australia.

I have now returned home to NZ with great knowledge and even greater excitement of the Jayco brand, and expect to see it grow here as it has in OZ.   It is easy to see why Jayco are number one in the Australasian market.
